Prayer Requests

 

Members from First Congregational UCC in Berlin Heights will be traveling to Back Bay this Saturday. Prayers for safe traveling to and from.

 

Rev. Roy Howell, Trinity UCC-McCutchenville had surgery on Tuesday, Aug. 5th at St. Vincent, Toledo.  Please keep him in your prayers during this time of recovery.

 

Rev. Don Brown, Findlay-Ohio has bypass surgery a few weeks ago.  Please remember him in your prayers.

Timely Topics begins on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 here at the Association office with Paul Nickerson, speaking   10:30 – 1:30 am.   Brown bag lunch.

 

Clergy Support Group

 The support group for clergy who may have or have had some anxiety and depression is still meeting. Those who just need to talk about the rigors of ministry are most welcome too! They gather at the Bloomville United Church of Christ on the 4th Wednesday of the month.  The group is led by Rev. Jan Kucera who is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.  The fee for this is $15 a session.  They run from 10:30 AM until Noon.  New members are more than welcome. For more details on the group, please contact Rev. David Culp at 419-447-9548.  The next meeting will be held on August 27.  The church is located on Route 19 in the Village of Bloomville.

 

Guided Meditation Group to meet.

 Another helpful group is in the process of forming.  This will be a guided meditation group.  It will be led by Janine Miller-DeLany and her husband Jere will also be present.  The first meeting of this group will be held on September 25 beginning at 10:30 AM. It will last for an hour.  The gathering place for this group will be Trinity UCC in Upper Sandusky.   A small fee will be charged for this event.  For questions please contact David Culp at 419-447-9548.  We hope to see you there!

United Church of Christ History and Polity will be taught this fall at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH.  It will be an online “hybrid” course worth three hours of graduate level credit. The course, DN 119; UCC History & Polity, will include just two Saturday face-to-face sessions, Sept. 20 and Dec. 6. All other sessions will be on-line and will include weekly discussions, readings, video and more. Instructors will be James Eller, a UCC Licensed Minister and the librarian of UTS and Rev. Ruth Brandon, the Association Minister for SONKA. The course will introduce students to the history, theologies, liturgical traditions, polity, organization, ministerial authorization policies, and practices and mission of the UCC. If you are a student taking the course for credit, use the usual UTS registration process. If you wish to audit the course, you will need to register as a “special” student and pay an audit fee.
