Here's a nice note about UCC in action--with appreciation May 23, 2008
How delightful to look out my window here at St. Paul's this a.m. and see carloads of people from different UCC's coming to Bellevue to help with our flooding disaster. I was not personally hurt by the flooding myself but have gotten enough phone calls and read enough horror stories.
Thank you, UCC, for your help.
Cindy Wright, St. Paul's UCC, Administrative Assistant/secretary

Vacation Bible School Resources
In the April Monthly Mailing you received a flyer titled “ Willing to Share? Vacation Bible School Resources”
Here is a result of the VBS Sharing Questions:
We are beginning to put together our "shopping list" for Power Lab
resources. We order 100+ music CD's each year to get the best price of
$4.99 each. In order to get this good price, we need several other
churches to request CD's. Our church generally needs 30. If you know
of other churches using Group's Power Lab that would like to order CD's
with us, please let me know.
Thanks!

Delegates vote to start new UCC church in Northwest Ohio
On April 26, delegates to the 45th annual meeting of the NWOA-UCC voted to go support the Church Development Team (the same team that helped “birth” Nu-Vizion” a few years ago) in going forward with a new church start in Toledo. The name of the church will be “The Village Church of Northwest Ohio” and it will be shepherded by Pastor Cheri Holdridge, a United Methodist pastor seeking dual standing in the UMC and the UCC (United Methodist Church and United Church of Christ). This “regional” congregation will have its epicenter in South Toledo, with primary outreach ministry in Old South Toledo. It will have a long-term vision to expend its energy to become a multi-site movement that will spread across the region. The Village Church of Northwest Ohio will reach persons who live and work in the city, who long for authentic relationships and community, who seek balance in their lives of prayer and action, and who will offer compassion and seek justice for persons living in poverty. Pastor Cheri says The Village Church of Northwest Ohio will not build its own church facilities, but will partner with other churches and organizations to share worship space.

ST. PAUL UCC, NEW BREMEN, CELEBRATES 175TH ANNIVERSARY
June 11, 1833 – that’s the birthday of St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen. The village of New Bremen and the church were founded in 1833 by German settlers, with the church’s initial congregation numbering only 16 members.
This past January, celebration plans for the year were made including, the 5th annual confirmation reunion in May, a special worship service and picnic in the church park in June, a float in the Bremenfest parade in August and the Wing Ding dinner event in November. A historical book will also be produced and banners to publicize our anniversary will be placed on the front of the church.
On Sunday, June 29, a special service of celebration is planned. The day will start with family worship at 10:15 a.m. Former ministers and sons and daughters of the church have been invited to attend and Rev. Daniel L. Busch, Association Minister will be preaching. Following worship, there will be a proclamation by Mayor Jeff Pape with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the front steps of the sanctuary. Then, our church picnic will get underway with food, entertainment and games in the church park. All are welcome to join us for this historic event. LOOKING FOR A LOCAL MINISTRY/MISSION TO SUPPORT? The Disaster Response Team of the Ohio Conference is in need of additional emergency response equipment. Due to the frequency and extreme nature of the recent flooding in Northwest Ohio, we have had to order more equipment and still have need of even more. All of our equipment, including the newest, has been in almost constant usage since the August, 2007 flooding. The equipment is industrial sized and quite expensive. It has been noted that we are the only group in the area to have the capabilities to pump out, mud out and dehumidify homes and basements without charge to the homeowners (who do not need to be church members). If you wish to donate, checks may be made out to and sent to NWOA, 416 Wentz St., Tiffin, OH 44883. Please note in the memo line , "emergency response equipment". Thank you so much for helping to ensure that this very needed ministry work can continue.
