Trip to El Salvador on June 20 -28

This trip will be a fact finding trip for those that have not been there before and it will also have opportunities for interaction with children and adults.  The dates may have to be moved up or back a day depending on flight schedules. The cost, including air fare, lodging, translator, transportation in El Salvador, and meals, will be $1150 to $1250.  Individuals could pay for other expenses in El Salvador and I could either order airline tickets for the group or they could be purchased individually. If interested, please contact, soon, John Gilberg at

419-629-2947 or by E-mail johgilberg@nktelco.net.

St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen is collecting good used or new tennis shoes for children from the ages of 3 to 12 years of age for children in El Salvador. Needed will be over 250 pairs of tennis shoes for the "children of the mangroves". These children are made to work for their survival by digging for clams for six hours a day among the roots of the mangrove trees while the tide is low. Their small bodies can fit between the roots. They wear no shoes and get cuts and thus infections on their feet. Shoes would help prevent this. SARA and Worldwide Humanitarian Aid are sending a container to El Salvador in June so the shoes would have to be received by May 15, 2007. Call the church for more information.  419-629-2502
