Great News! The Ohio Conference Church Development Flight School program will not end this May.
Rev. David Plant, our Flight School instructor, has graciously offered to continue the program and do one school a year over the next five years around the various associations if we can gather at least five churches together. The 2007-2008 training will be in the Eastern Ohio Association. The success of the Flight School program has been very gratifying and if your church would like to participate, or if you would like to send a second team for training, watch for information about future dates and locations.

Schauffler Seminar in Social Work and Christian Education which will be held on March 28, 2007, at Defiance College. The speaker, Mary Nelson is a prominent pioneer and leader in the Christian Community Development movement. She went to Chicago in about 1965 to help her brother who was the pastor at a west side Lutheran church. She stayed on for over 40 years and worked with the development of Bethel New Life, a church-based institution that worked with housing, build a re-cycling industry, created an office and store complex at the site of a formerly very devastated elevated train stop, and has helped people in the community in many other ways.
