CUE Calling Project:  The CUE Seminary Support Program, which represents Chicago, United and Eden Seminaries, is working on making more direct contact with churches, including contacts by phone.  Please be aware, and let your church receptionists know, that you may be receiving a phone call sometime in the next few weeks from someone calling on behalf of CUE Seminaries.

This is a legitimate phone call.  The CUE program is gathering important information that will be helpful to their work.  Please do give them your time and attention to provide the information they are seeking.

Callers will be asking questions such as:  Who is the best person to receive information by mail concerning the seminaries and seminary support (pastor, chair of mission support committee, etc.)?  How does your church makes decisions about support for theological education?  How is your church most likely to provide support (through a budget item or through special offering)?

Having recently attended the CUE Annual Meeting with all CUE region conference ministers, it is clear to me that Chicago, United and Eden Seminaries are providing faithful service to our Church, and that our support is vital to them.  I hope we will all continue to do all that we can to help support our seminaries through CUE.

Nu-Vizion: New Hope, New Life, New Plans

At Nü-Vizion Christian Fellowship in Toledo, there is never a dull moment! The Sunday “Power-Up” and Wednesday “ReBoot” services continue to attract more folks from its Toledo neighborhood, and are slowly but steadily growing. More and more children and youth are attending. The C.H.E.E.P. (clothing exchange)store was so popular and crowded, it has been scaled back on a new schedule in order to better serve the community. Regular fellowship events provide a safe and fun place for folks to gather and experience the presence of God and one another. Discipleship small groups are growing mature believers. A Working Board has formed and is supporting/overseeing the work. And, plans are underway for NVCF to charter as an official UCC congregation, and establish a 501-c-3 non-profit mission arm. These are just some of the happenings at NVCF. Nü-Vizion is evolving…a church, a mission, and a “brand new thing.”

In January, a letter was sent to all NWOA churches and many friends announcing the “100 for 1000” fundraising campaign. Briefly, NVCF is seeking 100 “giving units”—churches, church groups (youth fellowships, Sunday School classes, women’s groups, VBS groups, etc.) and individuals who would be willing to give $1,000 in 2006 to sustain and advance work of this exciting and cutting-edge ministry. As of this writing (late February) 17 “bricks” have been filled on the “100 for 1000” wall in the church office! THANK YOU!

If you or your church can help, or you would like some more information about NVCF, the campaign, and the on-going development of this ministry, please contact Nü-Vizion at 419- 241-9358, or by email at nuvizioncf@sbcglobal.net. NVCF will also be glad to send a “Missionary” to speak in your church!
