age level. Develop and hone abilities to
under-gird practice with theory through individual and collaborative real-world

RL 212 TEACHINGS OF JESUS AND LIFE OF THE EARLY
CHURCH
Take New Testament study to
the next level! Explore and compare the
four gospel writers’ accounts of Jesus’ life and teachings, the different
agendas and audiences of their gospels, and what they have to say to 21st
Century Christian churches. Examine the letters by Paul and other writers for
clues about the challenges and conflicts of the early church. Discover the
history of the first Christian communities in their cultural settings. Gain fresh perspectives for preaching and

RL 265 BLACK CHURCH IN AMERICA
Learn about American culture
and religion from an African-American religious perspective. Rediscover
important elements of the history, spirituality, and social involvements of
black denominations, churches, leaders and movements. Revisit civil rights

RL 338 Religions of the East
Discover the ancient
stories, beliefs and practices of Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism.
Learn about 21st century issues in the life of these religions and
in the interface between these religions and Christianity. Connect with future

RL 395L Praising God Always:
Preaching and Worship in the 21st Century
Identify the unique worship
and preaching needs of the 21st century Christian church. Explore different
traditions and styles of preaching and worship preparation. Practice creating
worship experiences. Craft sermons that inspire and challenge. Rev. David G.

RL 475 ADMINISTRATIVE POLICIES AND PRACTICES
Dig into the nuts and bolts
of organizing and administrating the ministries and programs of a local church,
but don’t stop there. Delve into issues
of motivation, human resources, leadership theory, planning and budgeting,
institutional structures, and institutional relationships that are critical to
the 21st Century church, and essential for effective teaching
