Lakeshore Event. Thanks to the folks at Congregational UCC of Castalia for a gracious welcome to other churches in the Region, to the many folks that provided workshop leadership, and the Regional Coordinating Team for the planning. The “Mission Possible” event was a great event!
Gatherings to welcome the Rev. Dan Busch. We are seeking two churches in each Region who will be willing to host “An Evening with the new Association Minister”. This involves coffee, cookies and a warm welcome to Dan and to your neighboring churches. Hopefully these will happen over the next 3-4 months. If you are interested, contact Joan Davidson at the Association office for more information.
Auglaize Valley Event, “Sandwiched in Faith,” is November 6. The Rev. Dan Busch will preach, a special offering will be taken for the nine UCC churches damaged by Hurricane Katrina. What do you have in your sandwich of faith? Register NOW – contact the Association Office.
Defiance College presents the Olds Lectureship in Biblical Studies, November 15. Abuna (Father) Elias Chacour, who describes himself as a “Palestinian, Arab, Catholic Christian” will present a lecture at 7 pm at St. John UCC, Defiance on “Bridges of Hope: Connecting Faith Communities in the Holy Land.” There is a 4 pm workshop by Dr. Michael Spath on “Christians, the Bible, and the Holy Land: How Does One Interpret the Bible in a 21st Century World?” For more information contact Dr. Don Knueve at 419-783-2581 or Dr. Marian Plant at 419-783-2338.
Special Visits And Offering For Nu-Vizion Christian Fellowship.
ALL Association churches are being asked to set aside this month, or as soon as possible, ONE Sunday for a special offering for Nu-Vizion Christian Fellowship. We are working to make up a $30,000 shortfall between targeted support and actual receipts from our churches, by the end of December. ALSO…your church may be contacted for a personal visit from a Nu-Vizion “missionary,” either to your church board or on a Sunday morning (to coincide with the offering if possible). These visits may be made by members of the NWOA Cabinet, the Church Development Team, or NVCF volunteers and mission trip participants. Please welcome these folks as they seek to share the “Vizion”!
“Exploring Healthy Interim Ministry” workshop will be held on November 14 at Westerville Community Church. There is a special workshop in the morning for those who would like an introduction to Interim Ministry. Registration deadline November 7. See the Monthly Mailing for registration information.
New UCC TV Commercial. There is still the hope to raise the $1.5 million dollars to support the new commercial beginning in Advent. If that amount is not raise, the commercial may need to be delayed until Lent.
Char Burch will be moving to Missouri on October 26. As of October 25, any emails or contacts should be made directly to the Association Office.
