The Vine "A weekly Email Update ... Keeping Us Connected in Christ"
Northwest Ohio Association
United Church of ChristMay 4, 2005
What a great group spirit was felt at the Annual Meeting last Saturday! Over 200 people attended with a dominance of red color. The worship, the music, the discussions, the fellowship seemed to live out what it means to “be church”. Our many thanks to Rev. Scott Johnson and the people of St. John’s UCC, Kenton for their gracious welcome; to Mr. Lorin Cope who set the tone with his message; to the many forum and worship leaders for sharing their gifts and skills; and to everyone who made it a great event!UCC Identity Items. There are still some God is Still Speaking and UCC items available for purchase from the Association office. At the end of this email, is a list of the items and costs. Note: the small “UCC History and Program Booklet” is a great concise description of the UCC as a denomination - and only $3.
In response to inquires, we have set up a special Timely Topic: Dealing with General Synod Resolutions. Wednesday, May 18, 1 pm- 3 pm, at the Association office. Some General Synod resolutions will be controversial and may receive media attention. The focus of our conversation will be on how to respond to your own parishioners when they see items in the news media. General Synod resolutions and pronouncements can be downloaded through the UCC website: www.ucc.org. Click on General Synod, then on Resolutions and Pronouncements. Char Burch will be leading the conversation. (NOTE: a list of our NWOA SYNOD DELEGATES is posted on http://nwoa.org).
Summer camps are not just for kids! Have you noticed the various Adult Camps available through our Ohio Conference Outdoor Ministries program? This includes a Pottery and Printmaking Camp being held at Defiance College. Participants will stay in air-conditioned apartment-style dorms! Check the Summer Camp catalog or go to the Ohio Conference website at www.ocucc.org.
