The General Synod Resolution on Marriage Equality may result in some media attention. The resolution can be viewed on the UCC website at www.ucc.org. The Rev. Jack Seville, our Interim Ohio Conference Minister, is available and willing to respond to questions from the media about the proposed resolution, UCC polity and the processes of the General Synod on adopting resolutions. Feel free to refer people to Jack at 800-282-0740. Background papers on the issue of marriage equality may be found at the UCC website www.ucc.org/justice/marriagereference.htm.
Tuesday morning, May 3, there will be a meeting to introduce congregations and judicatories to Oikocredit USA, an ecumenical development cooperative organization that provides microcredit around the world. The meeting will be at the Dublin Community United Church of Christ, 81 Bridge Street. Dublin, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a. m. Oikocredit USA is a social justice development bank founded by the World Council of Churches in 1975. Today it is one of the largest international private providers of microcredit around the world. Oikocredit USA works for economic justice and to reduce poverty across the globe. The Rev. Terry Provance, a United Church of Christ minister and the Executive Director of Oikocredit USA, will be present to share information about how to support and invest in the organization.
Nu-Vizion Christian Fellowship is seeking 2 youth interns for a twelve week period this summer. Applicants must be 18 years or older and be active in a UCC congregation. It is preferred that interns have completed at least one year of college, tech-school, vocational training, full-time employment, or mission placement. Work hours are 20 per week and are paid. Candidates need to live within a reasonable commuting distance as housing is not provided. Association Youth Delegates for Ohio Conference Gathering. The Association may have up to 5 youth delegates to the Ohio Conference Gathering which is Saturday, June 18 at First Community Church, North Campus in Columbus. There will be a special program to orient youth delegates, while participating in the meeting. The Association will pay the registration fee. Youth will be responsible for their own transportation. This is a wonderful opportunity for youth to gain insight about the wider church. Interested persons should contact Char Burch at the Association Office.
Jr. High Sailing Camp and Sr. High Sailing Camp surprisingly both have openings for boys. These are great experiences so give your campers “permission to come aboard!” Register to join us at Cowan Lake.
Junior High Sailing Camp
All aboard for sailing at Lake Cowan State Park, near Wilmington, Ohio! After morning devotions, we hit the water, where we stay for most of the day. By week’s end you’ll be a sailor! We have qualified instructors, a fleet of sailboats, cabins to sleep in, and a variety of evening activities. Great food rounds out the experience.
