The Vine "A weekly Email Update ... Keeping Us Connected in Christ"
Northwest Ohio Association
United Church of ChristNovember 24, 2004
Over three hundred youth and adult advisors gathered for the Conference-wide Fall Youth Event this past weekend. Because of the number of participants, the event was moved to Round Lake Christian Assembly, Lakeville which had much more space. It was a weekend of high energy, great music, worship and workshops. Our thanks to Erich Christman (St, John’s UCC, Archbold) for coordinating this event.
The Nu-Vizion Christian Fellowship Work Day on Saturday was a fun day! 52 folks gathered from 12 churches to help clean-up and create a welcoming, exciting setting for ministry.
Monday morning at the Association Office began with a phone call, “have you looked at the Association webpage?” We looked and were rather shocked. It seems that some hackers got into the computer of the service provider that hosts our website (and thousands of others) and managed to create some headaches for quite a few people. We are grateful that our webpage was back to normal by the end of the day.
You may want to remind your congregation that the TV Commercials created by the United Church of Christ will be aired December 1. The commercial can be seen on the webpage www.stillspeaking.com. God is Still Speaking!
The Association Office will be closed for Thanksgiving! November 25 – 26
The Christmas Fund (Veterans of the Cross) Special Mission Offering is scheduled to be received in December. The Christmas Fund offering is administered by the Pension Boards of the United Church of Christ and is used to supplement the pensions of retired clergy or surviving spouses. It also supports the Emergency Fund which is available to active clergy who have extraordinary financial needs. Every church should have received promotional material for the Christmas Fund. Please give your church members the opportunity to support this important offering.
Spencerville UCC has red pew cushions it is seeking to give away for free. Churches interested may contact the church by email at spenucc@bright.net or by phone 419-647-6156
